Resources for Undocumented Students

Students this summer have compiled a list of resources, such as scholarships and mentorship programs, for undocumented students. We encourage you to forward these resources to your guidance counselor so that they may be accessible to more students.

CUNY – THEDREAM.US SCHOLARSHIP

  • This scholarship is offered by CUNY partnership with TheDream.US. If you intend to enroll at CUNY; and are a first-time college student or community college graduate who is an immigrant and has applied for or received DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or TPS (Temporary Protected Status) or meet the past DACA eligibility criteria.

  • Scholarships up to $25,000 for two or four-year degrees.

La Unidad Latina Foundation

  • La Unidad Latina Foundation is a community of socially conscious college-graduates dedicated to the advancement of the Latino community nationwide. They want to make sure all students who start college finish college by providing scholarships directly to the students when they need it most.

GOLDEN DOOR SCHOLARS

  • Golden Door Scholars provides scholarships for DACA students and for undocumented students. Students may be high school seniors or recent graduates.

  • They also list out other organizations(Questbridge, The Dream.US, MALDEF, Univision, Latino College Dollars,  Dream Educational Empowerment Program, EDUCATORS FOR FAIR CONSIDERATION (E4FC))

MALDEF

  • Since MALDEF's founding, the civil rights organization has supported the next generation of civil rights advocates for the Latino community. MALDEF currently offers: a scholarship resource guide for high school, college, and graduate students; and a law school scholarship program for law students.

  • The MALDEF Scholarship Resource Guide is a free, informative resource guide for students, parents, and educators with an extensive list of scholarships, including many that do not inquire about immigration status.

OCIYU

  • OCIYU is an undocumented immigrant youth led organization that advocates for the rights of undocumented immigrants to live free from exploitation and persecution by mobilizing undocumented youth to advocate for their communities, and providing a space in which they can grow as leaders.

  • Requirements:

    • AB 540 allows undocumented students in California pay in-state tuition rates at California public community colleges and universities (UCs and Cal States included). In order to qualify you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You must have attended a California High School for a minimum of 3 years.

  2. You must have graduated from a California High School

  3. Fill out an affidavit that says you will apply for US residency as soon as it is possible for you to do so.

To take advantage of the in-state tuition, you must submit the AB 540 affidavit to your college or university’s Admissions Office for Community Colleges, Office of the Registrar for UC’s, and Office of Admissions and Records for Cal States.

The key benefit of AB 540 is that it allows undocumented students to pay in-state tuition rates, which are significantly more affordable than out of state tuition rates.

AB 540 also allows undocumented students to qualify for state-based financial aid under the California Dream Act.

Ascend Educational Fund

The organization provide servers Scholarships from 2,000 to 20,000 dollars to students in various locations like in New York, China, Mexico and etc.

  1. Must be or have parents born outside the United States of America

  2. Must be graduating high school

  3. Must be attending a accredited public or private college the next semester

  4. General Requirements

    1. Complete and signed application

    2. High school transcript

    3. SAT or ACT score report

    4. Two letters of recommendations

    5. Two essays

PepsiCo Cesar Chavez Latino Scholarship
  1. Open to everyone of Latino Descent

  2. Provide 30 hrs of service to the Chavez foundation.

Nursing Scholarships
